HSE Revokes Tower Cranes Regulation

From 06 April 2013 construction projects are no longer required to register the use of conventional tower cranes with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

This announcement is the result of the HSE Board’s recommendation to the Minister for Health and Safety proposals to revoke the Notification of Conventional Tower Crane Regulations 2010, following a public consultation in 2012. These regulations set out the duty all those on construction sites have to notify the HSE of the use of tower cranes.

The proposals have now been agreed by the Minister and the Statutory Instrument (SI) revoking the regulations has now been made and laid in Parliament.

Further information about the proposals can be found in HSE’s Consultative Document (CD239) and HSE Board Paper (HSE/12/57).
