Managed security, construction and aviation logistics, waste management
Dependent on a paper system to manage quality, environmental, health and safety performance, Wilson James found it hard to communicate and track actions, and collate information. They wanted health and safety management software that they could use across all types and sizes of project.
Wilson James started using YellowJacket on a construction project in mid 2012. Finding it easy to use and adaptable to the needs of other types of project, they are now rolling it out across the entire company. It is now in use on 100 sites – including airports, hospitals, office complexes and museums – with 400 fully trained users.
Safety Manager, Mark Dagleish, talks about the benefits of YellowJacket.
“It’s fantastic for action tracking. Previously it was difficult to track actions – we had no central database. With YellowJacket we can maintain information on progress and see when each action is closed off. Our board and directors can see overruns and delays at a glance.
“It’s easy to set up site visits and inspections – both external and internal. So site managers and everyone else who needs the information can see it. Everything is more transparent.
“We have a very safety conscious culture and using YellowJacket means we can tie everything together. It gives us the facts and figures – shows us where we need to concentrate our efforts.
“YellowJacket’s reporting capability is excellent – we have been able to adapt it to fit our business. It produces reports that can be used by varying levels of management. Whatever you want to know, it will give you – whether that is a low level report on minor slips and trips or outstanding actions for a whole aviation system.”
